Recognition of Prior Leaning (RPL) Gold Coast Learning Centre, Surfers Paradise
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) that recognises a student's current skills and experience, regardless of where and when the learning occurred.
Students can base their application for RPL on any combination of formal or informal training and education, work experience or general life experience.

Applications for RPL are based on whole competencies.

- Supplementary assessment tasks or challenge test (oral, written or practical)
- Assessment where no training is involved
- Trade test
- Authentication of evidence by supervisor or employer
Right to Appeal against unsuccessful RPL Applications
Unsuccessful applicants have a right to formally appeal their RPL assessment through the GCLC Appeals Process.
Mutual Recognition and Credit Transfer
In addition to Recognition of Prior Learning, there are several other processes that allow students to have their current skills and experience recognised.
Mutual Recognition
Mutual recognition is a process that recognises qualifications or statements of attainment issued by another Registered Training Organisation (RTO).
To receive credit for previous study, students need to be enrolled in the program and need to provide certified copies of their Qualifications, Statement of Attainment or Statement of Results to Gold Coast Learning Centre.
Please Note: Students cannot receive credit for their entire course — at least one competency must be achieved either through normal enrolment or Recognition of Prior Learning.
Credit Transfer
Credit Transfer is recognition for study already completed, which counts towards further study.
If you are seeking credit at GCLC, please contact the Manager at manager@goldcoaststudy.com before enrolling to find out the necessary application procedures.
